About Us

Background

In the late 1960 and early 70’s for socio-economic reasons, several single young Mauritians left Mauritius, and came to Bristol to pursue a career in Nursing.  The young nurses were based around different hospitals in the city and have followed their profession throughout.  Y the early 1990’s several Mauritian Families were well established.  In 1991 the Bristol Mauritian Association was founded.

Membership has grown over the years and the association not only serves a wide area of the West Country including Gloucester, Bath and Swindon.

Our Aims and Objectives

· To provide support to members in need or difficulty depending on available resources

· To support projects benefiting members of the association and to deserving organizations as well as individuals in Mauritius.

· To facilitate various self-funding social and cultural functions where Mauritians can meet

· To render the association financially viable through subscription fees and fund raising activities.

· To share information on current developments  in Mauritius

· To maintain a friendly and family like association based on trust , cooperation and goodwill.
